Jennifer Klabunde

Jennifer Klabunde

DVM, CVCP

Jen Klabunde is a Veterinarian and co-owner of Northwood. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Penn State University and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University.

She is honored to have been President of the Northern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association for the past several years. She is a member of the MVMA, AVMA, AAFP and AAHA.

Dr. Klabunde is a fly fishing addict and enjoys fishing on our many local rivers and inland lakes. She also enjoys boating and camping and is thrilled to be a part of the ‘Girls On The Run’ program at Kingsley Elementary school, where she has been the head coach for many years .

Hannah Vanos

Hannah Vanos

DVM, MPH

Hannah Vanos earned her Bachelor of Science, Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and Master of Public Health from Michigan State University.

As a small town girl from Greenville, MI and daughter of a large animal veterinarian and schoolteacher, she was drawn to veterinary medicine at a young age.

Her clinical interests include canine and feline medicine, internal medicine, and preventive care. She is a member of the NMVMA, MVMA and AVMA.

When Dr. Vanos is not at work, you can find her exploring the outdoors, quilting, and spending time with family which includes her husband Ben, cats Paczki and Pretzel, and turtle Scooter.

Hospital Administrator

Clint is our Hospital Administrator and co-owner of Northwood. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Penn State University. After graduating, he worked for the USDA’s National Veterinary Service Laboratory in Ames, Iowa. Clint is honored to be the President of the Interlochen Chamber of Commerce.

If you haven't seen Clint during your visit to Northwood that’s because as Hospital Administrator he is usually in the back taking care of the business and management side of things.

In his free time he enjoys woodworking and being outdoors. He is an avid snowmobiler and rides throughout Northern Michigan, including the U.P.

Patty Neubecker

Office Manager

Patty Neubecker is our Office Manager. Prior to joining our team Patty started in the veterinary field as an assistant in her hometown in 2003.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University, she moved to Northern Michigan. Not only does she enjoy working with our patients, but she truly enjoys getting to know our clients. She is always trying to create and develop informational tools that help educate clients on topics that directly affect their pets.

When Patty is not here, she is enjoying time spent doing outdoor activities with her family which consists of Jared (husband), Hunter (son), and her two dogs Callie & Itsa.

Patient Care Coordinator

Tessa Reed is our Patient Care Coordinator. As a proud Spartan, she graduated from Michigan State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a minor in Spanish.

She came to our practice in the spring of 2013 as a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist. Tessa came highly recommended due to her work ethic, as well as her wonderful personality, which she has proven true. She enjoys finding ways to make not only pets, but clients feel welcome and at ease when coming to our clinic.

Her family includes her fiancé, Darren and yellow Labrador Retriever, Kyla. In her spare time, you can find her outdoors or at football games with family & friends.

Melissa Grimoldby

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Melissa Grimoldby is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Melissa joined us after graduating from MSU’s LVT program in 2009

Melissa is a compassionate and intelligent technician that will be there for your pets every need. She was inspired to go into the field of veterinary technology as an opportunity to help people by taking care of those they rely on and care so much about.

When not caring for your pets, you will find her exploring new beaches and areas around Traverse City. She is also an active volunteer at Bay Pointe Community Church with the High School ministry, and leading a women’s Bible study.

Rycki Hill

Rycki Hill

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Rycki Hill is a Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT). She worked in the Lansing area after graduating from MSU’s veterinary technician program in 2001.

Rycki is an amazing technician and is extremely knowledgeable in many areas of veterinary medicine. She has vast experience in behavioral medicine and training. Some have called her a cat whisperer, for her talent working with fearful cats.

Since she moved to us from Lansing in 2010, she has been able to pursue many new hobbies like kayaking, sailing, skiing, and hiking with Doug (husband) and River (canine companion). Two cats welcome her home each night, Maverick and Zac.

Kennel Technician

Chelsey was hired at Northwood as a kennel technician, caring for our boarding pets. She quickly graduated to Veterinary Assistant because of her dedication, compassion and curiosity of all things having to do with veterinary medicine. Her love for animals led her to Baker College where she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. In her free time, Chelsey enjoys traveling and spending time with Justin (fiancé) and Oliver (Golden Retriever).

Veterinary Assistant

Kristy is a Veterinary Assistant who came to us from Oregon where she first started her career in the veterinary field. She works with us part time and is very passionate about animals. She is one of the friendliest and nicest women you will ever meet. If you haven’t already met Kristy, stop by to say hello! Kristy and her husband are the proud parents of two children, Graceful and Benaiah.
