Prescription Flea Control

Controlling fleas is extremely important, not just for your pet, by also for your health and environment. If you have multiple pets inside the home and one contracts fleas the problem can quickly become a nuisance for other pets and anyone living in your home. Fleas quickly grow and multiply and can cause an infestation in your home—on furniture, carpet, bedding. Besides living with these pests, it's common to experience fleabites, which can be painful and itchy. Ideally, it's best to prevent fleas before they start, but they can be controlled and stopped if immediate action is taken.

How to Prevent Fleas

Although there are many over-the-counter flea products, prescription flea medication is proven to be safe and extremely affective for controlling fleas in your dog or cat. Over-the-counter products can cause death, seizures, hair loss, burns and a number of other side effects that are not worth the risk. These products are also less effective, so you can still encounter a flea problem!

Treatment for Dogs

We recommend giving your dog Comfortis or Trifexis, which are both monthly treatments. Comfortis is a fast-acting, oral treatment that is beef flavored. Trifexis is a chewable tablet and also protects your dog from parasites and heartworms.

Treatment for Cats

We recommend giving your cat either Assurity or Advantage Multi. Assurity is from the makers of Comfortis and Trifexis and is 98–100% effective in killing fleas within 12 hours of application.

How to Control Fleas

Fleas causing you to itch? No worries! Start giving your cat or dog prescription flea control and thoroughly clean all areas in your home, including carpet, bedding and furniture. You may need to vacuum daily and steam-clean the carpeting to ensure fleas are gone.
