Have you been thinking of adding a new addition to the family lately? Once you’ve decided to adopt a new pet it may be a good idea to check your local shelters for pets up for adoption. Rescues are often full with furry friends waiting and hoping to find their new forever home! Rescue pets can vary in ages and breeds so you might just find exactly what you were looking for!

A couple of local adoption organizations in our area are:

AC Paw: This is a wonderful place to search for an adoptable new pet. AC Paw is a non-profit animal rescue. They have a super team of foster moms and dads for the pets they rescue. The fosters help care for every day needs and also take the pets to their veterinary visits for any issues or needed preventive care. This organization runs on community donations which allows them to get each pet vaccinated and spayed or neutered before re-homing. You can look at their adoptable cats and dogs on their website ( or on the weekends at petsmart they have adoption days!

Cherryland Humane Society: This amazing organization is there for all your pet needs. They can offer counseling on whats best for a pet in need of a new home, if you are thinking of adoption, or if you simply want to volunteer your time they have a position for you! Each week you can see one of CHS adoptable pets on Pet Talk with Dr. Jen Klabunde on 7&4 News! You can also view adoptable pets on CHS website ( or by stopping in to the shelter. They also greatly appreciate donations which help provide everyday needs, medical attention, and vaccines for the adoptable pets.

There are many shelters out there that have the perfect pet in need of a home and love. Have fun finding the perfect fit for you and your family. We can’t wait to meet your new fur baby!
