During the summer most pets love to go swimming as a way to cool down, and most owners do not like the smell of a wet dog. Although you may be tempted to bathe your pet frequently, it can actually dry out their skin. By bathing your dog, you are taking away the natural oils that are on their skin. If you are wanting to bathe your pet on a regular basis, we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks in between baths. Also, make sure you are using a pet shampoo and not a human one, as the human ones can dry out your pets skin even more. We recommend an aloe and oatmeal shampoo and conditioner that is available at the clinic. It not only smells great to us, but is easy on sensitive skin and formulated just for your pet.
It is recommended to rinse off your pets after every swim (with just water) and the most important part is to make sure that you dry all areas of their body completely. Not rinsing them off can cause them to become itchy. If they are left wet, they can possibly develop an infection on their skin.
