Spring is finally here! And hopefully to stay 🙂 If you know us really well, you know what we do for every holiday…give you the hazards! So we won’t keep you in suspense any longer…here they are…The Top Health Hazards for Pets on St. Patrick’s Day!
- Cut out the Corned Beef- This delicious and festive meat contains high amounts of salt which can upset your pet’s GI system. This can lead to vomiting and diarrhea and let’s be honest- that is not how you want to spend your day! It also contains high levels of fat, which can lead to a painful condition called pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas.
- Pass on the soda bread- If your pet ingests any raw dough, it can actually expand in their stomach and not breakdown properly. Call your Veterinarian immediately if this happens.
- No Gulping Guinness! As obvious as it may seem, be sure to limit those chugging contests to humans only. All forms and amounts of alcohol are poisonous for your pet. Period.
Have and happy and safe holiday from all of us at Northwood Animal Hospital!
