Dental Case Study

By February 16, 2015Pet Talk

In honor of Dental month, we thought we would go through an actual case that came into our clinic and a dental was needed. The owner brought in their 16 year old Terrier named Rolo, who had not received veterinary care in over 9 years! She was experiencing facial swelling and not wanting to eat. Upon further examination, it was determined that Rolo had an abscess that was formed from the infection in the mouth and this was what was causing the facial swelling. Radiographs were performed since over 80% of the tooth is under the gum line. The radiographs determined that 4 teeth needed to be extracted. Rolo left on pain medications and antibiotics. Today, Rolo is doing great and back to her normal spunky self!
