Everyone who shares a home with a pet should have a basic pet first aid kit on hand.

Keep a kit in your home and in your car if you travel with your pet. You can buy a first aid kit for people and add pet-specific items to it, or you can make your own!

The following is a recommended list of items to keep in your first aid kit:

  • Gauze
  • Tape
  • Vet Wrap/Bandage
  • Iodine Pads
  • Gloves
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Neosporin
  • Benadryl (Diphenhydramine)
  • Tweezer/Hemostat
  • Eye Flush (Saline)
  • Quick Stop
  • Blanket
  • Muzzle
  • Flashlight

Paperwork to have on hand:

  • Updated vaccination history report, showing what vaccines your pet is up to date
  • Veterinarian’s phone number
  • Nearest emergency veterinary clinic’s phone number (& directions on how to get there)
